Daniel Carr Haggard IV, 51, of Cocoa Beach, Fl., died Sunday, February, 11, 2018 surrounded by his family. Dan lost a hard fought battle with Duodenal Cancer. Dan was born August 8th, 1966, to Daniel Carr Haggard III and Leslie McMahon Haggard at Wuesthoff hospital in Rockledge, Fl. Dan spent his younger years living in north Melbourne, Fl. He attended school at St. Marks in Cocoa, Fl. from K-6, and later Roosevelt Middle School in Cocoa Beach, and graduated Cocoa Beach High School in 1984. Dan also attended Brevard Community College and Herzing College. Like many Floridians Dan loved the outdoors. He learned to swim at a very early age, from his mother taking him to the community pool on Post Rd and private lessons. Dan's parents both worked in the space program before his birth. His mother returned to work taking a job a Wuesthoff Hospital when Dan was 5 years old. Dan spent his afternoons after grade school with his grandmother, Ruby McMahon, at her home in Cocoa on Fiske Blvd. Dan enjoyed many sports and played JV Football for Cocoa Beach as a high school Freshman and Sophomore, and spring Varsity. In the summer of 1982, Dan started working for Holiday Inn at age 15 to help purchase a car for himself. As Dan grew into adulthood, he took a job at Wuesthoff Hospital, where he held numerous positions including Carpenter's Helper, Courier Service Supervisor, and Pathology Assistant. He worked there for over 10 years. In the late 1990s Dan decided on a career change and began selling cars. Dan worked for a few dealerships in central and southern Brevard for the last 20 years, in sales and management, most recently for Southeastern Honda in Palm Bay. Dan enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family. He enjoyed CB radio at an early age and later “ham” radio, where he was licensed since 1991. KD4HHG is now a “silent key”. He also enjoyed photography and computers. He enjoyed motorcycling on and off road. He also enjoyed SCUBA diving where he completed training through Assistant Instructor. Dan loved Cocoa Beach and the “beach lifestyle” while also enjoying the natural beauty of Florida's inland. Dan is survived by his wife of 6 years, Oneta Haggard, his mother Leslie McMahon Haggard of Cocoa; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Daniel Carr Haggard III. Dan's wishes were to be cremated. The family requests privacy. There will be two graveside services. A memorial service will be held Sunday, March,4,..2p.m, at Bethel Baptist Church,on 1950 Michigan Ave, Cocoa, FL 32922 ,and after Pinecrest Cemetery on Clearlake Rd. in Cocoa, FL. Part of Dan's ashes will be spread there near the graves of his maternal grandparents. Please join us in this celebration of Dan's life. A second celebration of Dan's life, and final spread of ashes will take place at noon at the Center Point Baptist Cemetery north of Lafayette, Ga ... Dan's remaining ashes will be spread near his namesake great grandfather, and father. Family members from the area are encouraged to attend.
